About Sandy
Sandy Russo has over a decade of experience working in public education in New Jersey. She has direct experience partnering with faculty, administration, and families of students across all grade levels from preschool to post graduate adult programs, and in a wide variety of placements from general education to in-district self-contained classrooms and out of district therapeutic schools.
Having started her education career working as a paraprofessional in a school dedicated to serving students with autism, to her role as a school psychologist and case manager, Sandy has had a wide variety of experience supporting students with special education needs. Her in-depth knowledge of the public school system, special education rights, best practices, and direct involvement as a case manager on the Child Study Team allow her to offer a unique perspective to parents on how best to navigate the system and advocate for their child.
While earning her master’s in educational psychology from Kean University, Sandy worked for the New Jersey Early Intervention System (NJEIS) as a Developmental Interventionist. In this role Sandy worked directly with families and their children ages 0-3 at high risk for being diagnosed with autism. She is also an experienced parent-trainer working directly with families to facilitate home programming services for children with autism.
As an experienced school psychologist and case manager in the public-school setting, Sandy believes in building strong partnerships with parents and guardians while working cooperatively with faculty and administrators to ensure positive academic and social-emotional outcomes for students. Her expertise in the areas of IEP writing, data analysis, psychoeducational assessment, counseling, applied behavior analysis, and special education rights afford her the ability to synthesize all available information to develop practical and appropriate plans for intervention.
